I love it when musicians lean into their instrument. The Bernie Senensky Quartet lit up The Registry Theatre last Friday night. Bernie, himself (above), was positively wringing the music of Dave Brubeck out of this grand.
I went down to The Registry to check out work from the BOX artists that’s hanging in the lobby and stuck around for the jazz show later. Glad I did…
There is no cooler breed than jazz musicians. Period.
Bernie Senensky was totally chilled out and massively talented.

Allan busted out the ladder to tweak a spot. This is my kind of place.

I shot this press again because I was unhappy with the shots I got earlier in the week. This is what I was going for.
My friends Susan Campbell and Cathy Farwell.
The Registry is a great venue. How did I not know about it a long time ago?
Lawrence McNaught, Director of Programming and Development at The Registry can tell you there are over 300 gigs booked here each year.
The art on stage really popped.
Liked how Bernie seemed to be floating in inky blackness here.
Now how do we get more young people engaged with jazz?
Happy making,
DW
Awesome mix of art and music…kudos to Lawrence and Darin…
Love your eye, DW!
