Want to know how anything cool gets done in the community? It’s no secret: just plain old hard work. The Grand Porch Party is Sunday, June 9, just two weeks away. The hard-working volunteer crew was busy creating signs and buttons today, only a few hours before the GPP came home with a Waterloo Region Arts Award for Best New Event on Sunday night.
GPP is live music on front porches in a great Waterloo neighbourhood, free-no-pay. Having shot some photos of the GPP last year, I was eager to support this great cause again this year with some more photography and blogging. Get out to this event!
Tenille Bonoguore, my friend and creator of the GPP, was on scene having just given birth earlier in the week to two beautiful baby girls. Respect!
Grassroots, around the dining room table at Joanna’s on Dunbar St.
Putting together the marketing collateral.
Earlier in the day, I was thinking: who could help me on this assignment? Need someone who is good on the camera… Of course!
My Main Man C! Rockin’ the D90 like a Boss. The good pics in this post are credited to him. Thanks buddy!
Anna volunteered to attend the WR Arts Award ceremony on behalf of Tenille and the team. That certainly worked out well.
Sunday, June 9 2-5pm. Mark your calendar.
Come for the buttons…
Stay for the music.
This is one of the most chilled-out, bike-friendly, pedestrian-friendly, all-age-inclusive, no-cost music venues you are likely to visit this summer.
Grab some lunch in Uptown Waterloo and wander the short 3 blocks over to see the many porch gigs in progress.
More deets on the GPP web site. Follow them on twitter @GrandPorchParty.
Tell two friends!
See you at the party.

I love the Grand Porch Party. It’s a wonderful event, like your post says “This is one of the most chilled-out, bike-friendly, pedestrian-friendly, all-age-inclusive, no-cost music venues you are likely to visit this summer.”
Another reason I love living in uptown.
