The hands that make…

With the help of 16 local artists last weekend, I made this piece called “The hands that make…”

I’m fortunate to be friends with a fair number of artists in the region.  I get to visit their studios, collaborate on projects with them, and learn from them.  I’m as interested in the making as I am in the output, so I think a lot about the human element in the creative ecosystem.  It’s a richer experience when you think about the artist, guttin’ it out, scrapin’ together ideas and time and materials and putting something out there.

But don’t take my word for it: come out to the BOX11 Art Show & Sale this weekend and meet some of the people on the other end of these hands.

Happy making,

DW

    Awesome. love it.
reminds me of a project the lovely Rhonda S was trying to get into motion… taking video of people doing their own quirky things – focusing just on their hands. Excited for BOX! yay!

Love the photos of the hands and how you have composed them….do men hold their hands in more defensive gestures than women do, showing the outside of their hands and women open their hands to the insides, less defensively.??? Just an observation. denise.

Fabulous shot! Love it… should use that for something special…

Very, very cool. I love how the background has completely disappeared. To comment on Denise’s comment – I held my hands in a number of different ways and positions.
