Friday night was the drop off date for artists to submit their work to the BOX11 Art Show & Sale jury (you’re saving the Nov 12/13 dates to visit the show, right?). It was a really cool opportunity for me to get a behind-the-scenes glimpse into BOX, having enjoyed it only as a spectator the past two years.
Before the…
doors opened…
BOX organizer, the incomparable Cathy Farwell, briefed the…
volunteers on the…
detailed workflow for…
receiving and…
protecting the work.
The level of care and respect for artists’ work is impressive. The intake is a well-oiled process that I suspect has been developed and tweaked over three seasons. Hmmm, I should probably note that the photo above is a support post of the building, and not someone’s work. Well… now that I photographed it, it’s my work.
Remnants of felt, made here, and snagged on the feltevator.
Get ready, Sarah, here they…
come.
Some sculpture complemented…
the paintings that rolled in.
There was a hustle and bustle with the after-work crowd dropping off work right at 5pm.
I discovered a lot more wall-writing this time out to Rumpel as I had better light on this go.
Great textures here.
Is this floor grime echoing Magritte’s The Son of Man?
More work rolled in after the dinner hour, and…
when…
the hubbub quieted down, and…
most had left the building…
there was an impressive array of work around the walls from a variety of media, waiting…
for the jury to dig in on Saturday.
Happy making,
DW
